CBD for Pets
CBD that is THC free may have a good effect on animals such as dogs, cats and horses for managing some health conditions and relieving symptoms that include pain, anxiety inflammation and behavioral issues.
Start with a low dose to ensure no allergic or adverse reactions, then work up to 2 mg CBD per kilogram of your pet's weight. For example, a 30-pound dog would need about 27-28 mg of CBD twice a day. Kicking Mule Hemp 5K CBD Oil, with 8.33 mg per drop, would require 3-4 drops per dose, lasting around 75 days per bottle for a 30-pound dog. For a horse weighing 1200 pounds, a dose of 1095 mg CBD would need about 66 drops of Kicking Mule 10K oil, costing around $9 per dose. Consistent dosing is key, whether for situational use or daily health maintenance, and can be administered on food or treats.
The caveat is that you should always consult with your Veterinarian as to the efficacy of CBD for your pet. Be advised that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will not allow any claims that any hemp sourced CBD product has been subject to FDA evaluation ( Hemp sourced CBD products have not been FDA evaluated) and therefore no claims may be made that a CBD product is intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Nor may a hemp sourced CBD product be advertised as a dietary supplement.
Now that you know that CBD can be good for your pets and you are aware of the obligatory warnings, we have some reading below and opportunity to purchase THC free CBD products that may be perfect for your pet.
Kicking Mule Hemp manufactures at least two CBD oil products that are good for your pets with significant Broad Spectrum minor cannabinoids and that are THC Free. The CBD products are in oil format and animals should either crave the hemp flavored oil or at least tolerate it. The products recommended for animals are the same as our Broad Spectrum THC Free products designed for human consumption with no difference in quality or specifications. We would entertain future products designed specifically for pets with bacon or other pet centric flavors if there were a demand. Let us know if the current THC Free oils do not meet your pets expectations as far as flavor is concerned and please do leave a comment on any relief or noteworthy effects your pet receives.
Kicking Mule Hemp makes THC deleted products designed for either animals or people that may not consume any THC as a matter of law, condition of employment or court order. Our THC Free products are color coded with white lettering on the front of the label to signify the product is THC Free. Products that contain THC are color coded with Green or Red lettering to signify the presence of THC and/or CBN, and there is a written warning on the label that details the inclusion of THC or CBN. You may assure yourself that the product is THC Free by reading the label which will either declare that the product is THC Free, or has included warning that it does contain a small amount of THC
Warning: THC can cause toxicity and even death in dogs when given at prescribed human dosages. We have included a link of the American Kennel Club advice on health for dogs. They strongly suggest that you consult your Veterinarian before administering CBD.

The following are quotes from the American Kennel Club:
“Success stories abound of dogs overcoming anxiety, slowing seizures, and even beating cancer due to cannabidiol (CBD), one of more than 100 cannabinoids found in cannabis plants.”
“Unlike THC, which can cause toxicity and even death in dogs when given at prescribed human dosages, the worst CBD has been documented to cause diarrhea and changes in some liver enzyme values after several weeks. The main concern with CBD is that it inhibits a chemical in the body called cytochrome P450 that is responsible for metabolizing most drugs. If a drug’s efficacy depends on its metabolized product, CBD could render it less effective. If a drug’s safety depends on it being cleared from the body within a certain time frame, CBD could cause it to build up to toxic levels. Never give your dog CBD without your veterinarian’s knowledge if your dog is taking other drugs.”
